Description

This is a skimmer cone used within a Thermo Scientific mass spectrometer ion-source interface, positioned between the atmospheric-pressure ion source and the vacuum mass analyzer to sample ions from the expanding gas jet while maintaining the pressure difference between vacuum stages. The extended-geometry design positions the skimmer orifice differently within the source housing for tuned ion-sampling performance, and it is a maintenance/wear replacement part for the instrument ion optics.
